ELIGIBILITY

The Spirit of Cricket

Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within its Laws but also within the Spirit of the Game. Any action which is seen to abuse this spirit causes injury to the game itself. The major responsibility for ensuring the spirit of fair play rests with the captains.

The Spirit of the Game involves RESPECT for:

  • Your opponents
  • Your own captain
  • The roles of the umpires
  • The game’s traditional values
  • In keeping with the Spirit of Cricket, players and coaches should shake their opponents’ hands at the conclusion of each game.

There is to be no coaching of the players, either on the field or from the sidelines, during play. The Captains are responsible for setting the field, ensuring the next bowler is ready, and otherwise managing play. This does not preclude coaches from using the 5-minute interval to discuss game plans

The Ground

All matches should be played on a 16m pitch length.

The home team shall ensure that all boundaries (max. 25 meters radius from the batting end stumps) are marked, that pitches are properly prepared, and that sufficient stumps and bails are available.

For the marking of the boundary, the use of cones or other appropriate markers is sufficient

The Teams

Teams shall be limited to a maximum of ten players, although only eight may bat or bowl in the game.

This does not preclude a team from including extra players as substitute fielders

A maximum of eight players, from the fielding team, may be on the field at any time

A team MUST field a minimum of seven players. In the event that a team is unable to field seven players, having been given every opportunity to find replacement or substitute players, that team shall forfeit the match

All players shall wear an appropriate uniform as determined by the team’s school.

Equipment

Plastic stumps should be used in all games in all the divisions.

No protective equipment is required

A Master Blaster white soft ball is to be used for all games.

All spectators are required to sign in before entering the venue and appropriate etiquette is required at all times.  Please refer to the Policies on this site for more information.
