This competition is held over one day in March, currently at Owen Park Southport. This is an elective sport for Andrews Cup Schools and not all schools will participate every year. 

VENUE: Owen Park, Queen Street, Southport. 

PARKING There is plenty of parking within the public areas of this venue. Please abide by all directions of the staff.

ELIGIBILITY

The Touch competition is held on one day. Competition will be for students in Years 4-6 only. 

Open DivisionFull Rules

Students may be selected from Years 4-6 and graded according to the Coordinators      discretion.

Open A, Open B, Open C Grade, Open D Grade – Competitive

A school may choose to omit C Grade and enter A, B & Open D Grade

Junior Division – Modified Rules

9 and 10-year-old students only

Junior A – Competitive

Junior Social Grade – Non-competitive

Age is the same as Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country. It is calculated on the year born.

Teams will consist of a maximum of 12 players with 6 players on the field at any one time.

COMPETITION FORMAT

Where more than eight (8) teams have nominated in a grade, the competition will be held on one day and in two zones. Zones will be determined and schools ranked according to the results of the competition in the previous year. 

In any grade where there has not been a competition in that division in the preceding year and eight or more teams nominate for that grade, the zones will be decided by a random draw.

Each school will play zone games and then play-offs will occur between zone

Zone 1         Schools who were ranked in the preceding year at 1, 4, 5, 8 & 9

Zone 2         Schools who were ranked in the preceding year at 2, 3, 6, 7 & 10

    3.1.2         In Zone Games:   

  • 2 points for a win
  • 1 point for a draw
  • 0 points for a loss
  • 2 points for a bye

EQUIPMENT

All teams are to supply a game ball.

All grades will use a junior ball (size 4).

All players must wear suitable footwear. Football boots are permitted but must have rubber studs. No steel studs or spikes are permitted.

Headwear:  Only soft-peaked headwear is acceptable

If two teams from the same school play in the same division, bibs or coloured shirts must be worn to differentiate the teams.

SPECTATORS

All spectators are required to sign in before entering the venue and appropriate etiquette is required at all times.  Please refer to the Policies on this site for more information.  

PHOTOGRAPHY

Please follow our Photography statement in regards to permissible photography. An official Andrews Cup Association photographer will be permitted access to the competition floor at any time and will wear an orange bib for identification purposes.

NO PETS

Pets are not permitted at Andrews Cup events. Thank you for your support with this.
