This competition is held over one day in April, currently at Queens Street Tennis Centre and St Hilda’s This is an elective sport for Andrews Cup Schools and not all schools will participate every year.

PARKING There is parking within the public areas of this venue and in the surrounding Streets. Please abide by all signs and directions of the staff.

ELIGIBILITY
GRADES:
Competition will be conducted in Open A, B, C and D Grades and Year 4.
PLAYERS:
Each team consists of two players (plus reserves). Year 4 players can play in a higher grade, i.e. A/B grade, at a schools/coaches discretion however the above parameters will be used (e.g. Year 4 playing in A Grade will use yellow ball on a full size court – See Sections 11 and 12).
EQUIPMENT:
Girls must provide their own tennis racquet and balls will be provided by the host school.
ZONES:
The Tennis competition is held on one day in zones. Zones will be determined with schools ranked according to the results of the previous year’s competition.
Where the draw allows, each school will play round matches and then semis and finals will occur between zones.
Results of the round matches will be calculated in the rest break so that the final two games (Semis and Finals) can be decided.
To determine the position of the schools for the semi‐final and final games, ties on points will be resolved by a count back of games.
Zone 1‐Schools who were ranked in the preceding year at 1, 4, 5, 8 & 9
Zone 2‐Schools who were ranked in the preceding year at 2, 3, 6, 7 & 10
SCORING:
If the signal is given during a game, the players complete that game.
The winning school for each match is the school, which scores the majority of games within the time limit.
If the number of games is tied, then a tiebreaker will be played with the first to reach 5 points will be considered the winner. Refer to 15
POINTS ALLOCATION:
2 points for a win
2 points for a bye
1 point for a draw – this will only occur if time does not permit a tie breaker to be played
0 points for a loss
SPECTATORS
All spectators are required to sign in before entering the venue and appropriate etiquette is required at all times. Please refer to the Policies on this site for more information.
SPECTATORS AND NON-PLAYING TEAM MEMBERS:
Spectators and non-playing team members will not be permitted on the court during matches. All matches must be spectated from the outside of the courts. This is for safety reasons. Spectators and non-playing team members should not converse with the umpire / chief umpire directly. A school representative should speak to the umpire, chief umpire or event organisers on their behalf.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Please follow our Photography statement in regards to permissible photography. An official Andrews Cup Association photographer will be permitted access to the competition area at any time and will wear an orange bib for identification purposes.
NO PETS
Pets are not permitted at Andrews Cup events. Thank you for your support with this.
